Playful Toddler Photography in Reading, Berkshire
Are you looking for relaxed, natural photography to capture the enery and curiosity of your toddler in Reading, Berkshire? Maybe you love the idea of photos but worry they won’t sit still, smile on cue. That’s completely normal at this age and it’s exactly what I love to photograph. My outdoor toddler sessions are designed around real little people: busy, curious, full of personality. We meet in a beautiful spot in or around Reading, uk, and I gently guide you while your child explores, runs, and plays. You simply spend time together; I watch for those real, in‑between moments that defines the vibe of your family. The goal of my toddler photography is not perfect poses, but storytelling images full of movement, emotion, and connection.
What to Expect During a Toddler Photography Session in Reading
When you arrive for your family photoshoot with your two‑year‑old in Reading, I’m not expecting a calm, camera‑ready child. I’m expecting a real little person: curious, energetic, sometimes shy, sometimes full of beans. Instead of lining everyone up and asking for forced smiles, I’ll give you simple, playful prompts. We might walk towards a tree, look for flowers, count how many leaves they can hold, or see how fast they can run between you. :) You’ll be chatting, laughing, and following their lead while I move around and photograph what unfolds. Example: For the family featured in the hero image, I told mum and dad to sit together in the golden grass and sing their daughter’s favourite poem. As they sang, she twirled and danced around them, completely lost in the moment. When the song ended, mum instinctively pulled her in for a kiss and that’s when I captured this beautifully natural, heartfelt photograph.
Outdoor Locations Around Reading and Berkshire
All of my toddler photography sessions in Berkshire take place outdoors in natural locations across Reading, Wokingham, Caversham, Bracknell, Newbury, and the wider Berkshire area. This perticular session was done in Bugs bottom park in Caversham area in Reading. Children this age are happiest when they can move freely, touch things, and explore. So we use parks, open fields or flower‑filled corners as our backdrop. Your little one can pick up sticks, smell flowers, simply run in the grass. I’ll choose safe spots and beautiful light, then let their curiosity lead the way. That’s how I create those storytelling toddler photographs.

What If My Toddler Won't Pose or Cooperate?
If you’re worried your little one won’t pose or “cooperate,” you’re in very good company. Almost every parent who books toddler photography with me says the same thing. The reassuring part? I’m not asking your child to stand still, hold poses, or repeat anything again and again. I design the entire session around short attention spans and changing moods. If they run, I follow with my camera. If they suddenly only want to be carried, we lean into cuddles. If they become obsessed with a flower, a stick, or a bug, we let that become part of the story. I’ll gently guide you with ideas and prompts so you always know what to do, but nothing will feel stiff or fake. The most meaningful toddler photos usually come from these real, unscripted moments anyway.
How to Prepare for Your Toddler Photoshoot in Reading
Getting out of the house with a two‑year‑old can feel like a mission, so my aim is to make your toddler photoshoot in Reading as easy and stress‑free as possible. Before your session, I’ll send you a simple guide with outfit suggestions, what to bring (snacks, water, a favourite toy, wipes, comfort items), and the best time of day to work around naps and meals. We’ll chat about your child’s personality, are they shy at first, full‑on from the moment they arrive, sensitive to noise? so I can plan the pace and structure of your toddler photography session. On the day, I’ll keep things moving with short games and gentle prompts so your little one doesn’t have time to get bored. Your only job is to be present with them; I’ll look after the rest.
Why Toddler Photography Is Worth It, Even at the Chaotic Stage
This stage when your child is around two, can feel chaotic, funny, exhausting, and utterly precious all at once. Many parents only think about newborn photos and then hesitate to capture the later stages. I honestly believe toddler phase full of personality is such beautiful to capture, simply because I get to capture the real them, because they simply can’t pose. During your outdoor session, we’ll document the way they run with their whole body, hold onto your fingers, climb into your arms when they’re tired, and light up when they discover something new. These everyday details are exactly what you’ll want to remember when they’re older. If you’d love natural, heartfelt toddler photographs of your little one just as they are right now, I’d be honoured to create them for you here in Reading and across Berkshire in your favourite park or your home.
A photograph with your toddler can become the story on your walls with my help!

Hello, I'm Pranali.
I specialise in children and family photography and honestly, it's less of a job and more of a calling.
My own little one was the reason I first picked up a camera. What started as wanting to capture those fleeting everyday moments quickly became something much deeper. Photography taught me to slow down, to truly observe, and to be present in a way I hadn't been before. And once you see the world through a child's eyes, like really see it, you can't unsee it.
Little ones lost in their own element are endlessly fascinating to me. As adults, we spend so much of our time living inside our heads, planning the next thing, worrying about the last. Children don't do that. They are simply, completely here and there is something magical about that.
My photoshoots are designed around exactly that feeling. Not poses. Not "look at the camera." Just a small pocket of time where you get to be fully present with your children, while I gently guide and capture what's really there.
The moments you'll want to hold onto forever.
