What About Lighting for Home Newborn Photography?
Natural window light is ideal for lifestyle newborn photography. It's soft, flattering, and keeps images feeling authentic.
If natural light isn't sufficient (cloudy days, homes without large windows), I bring studio lights to boost the available light without losing the natural feel.

One of the most important parts of newborn photography is documenting how your older children relate to their new sibling.
How I Work With Toddlers and Young Children
I don't expect children to pose or follow directions. Instead, I Follow their lead. If your 2-year-old wants to jump on the bed we do that. Sometimes I gently ask them to kiss the baby, or touch baby’s feet, keeping it natural and simple. I mostly direct the parents, not the children. I suggest activities and moments for you to share with your kids, then photograph what happens naturally. The best sibling photos happen when children are being themselves; protective, curious, playful, or genuinely interested in their new brother or sister.
I understand that I need to work around their energy levels. Sometimes they will be fully engaged. Other times they'll want to play themselves. Both scenarios produce valuable photos.

About Real Newborn Photography Session in Winnersh, Reading & How It Unfolded
The weather was a bit wet and cloudy on the day we captured these beautiful photos for the family. The baby’s cheeky older brother, Almost 3 years old helped me carry my bag to the top floor, he pushed it all the way with all his might while I pretended to help him. :) and gave me a proud tour of his bedroom.
He was simply himself and brought so much life to the images. I followed his lead while giving light directions to parents. We had fun kissing the baby and jumping on the bed. and when Baby fell asleep in the end we took some intimate mummy and baby pictures while the big brother played outside with his dad. It drizzled a little bit and I captured the him playing in the rain too. :)
Mum loved the images because they tell a story of a moment in time in their lives so aptly.
