What to expect during a newborn shoot at home? | Berkshire photographer

'I haven't slept in days.'

And here's what I see:
The way you instinctively rock when you hold your baby. The tenderness in how your partner looks at both of you. The beautiful, exhausted, overwhelming love in those first days.
My newborn sessions aren't about styled nurseries or picture-perfect moments. They're about capturing the real emotion of this chapter - exactly as you are, in your home, with all the love and chaos that comes with it.
All I need is a natural window light and if thats not enough, I carry my studio lights to give it a boost. Many families I photograph live in everyday homes filled with love, a bit of clutter, and the beautiful chaos that comes with a new baby. What truly matters is connection.
How did this session go?
The weather was a bit wet and cloudy on the day we captured these beautiful photos for the family. The baby’s cheeky older brother, just over 3 years old helped me carry my bag to the top floor, he pushed it all the way with all his might. :) and gave me a proud tour of his bedroom.
He was simply himself and brought so much life to the images. I did not expect him to pose or follow directions — I followed his lead while giving light directions to parents. We had fun kissing the baby and jumping on the bed. and when Baby fell asleep in the end we took some intimate mummy and baby pictures while the big brother played outside with his dad. It drizzled a little bit and we captured the kiddo playing in the rain too. :)
Mum loved the images because they tell a story of a moment in time in their lives so aptly.
